Family costume is going to be Star Wars this year as the 5 yr old is insisting on being Boba Fett. This means my husband with be Jango Fett, the baby is going to be an Ewok, and I... well .... if my understanding of Star Wars lore is correct... should be Jabba the Hutt (mostly because of all the options, this is the most hilarious.
The problem is that there are ZERO Jabba the Hutt costumes out there. I handmade all our Toy Story costumes last year and am a pretty good sewist.
I have an idea of building a bubble-like robe and oversized hood to mimic the head (see https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/1f7aeow/diy_jabba_the_hutt_costume/ for inspiration).
What material is best for holding crazy structure like that in a non-inflatable version or what should I be searching for? I think boning would be too delicate.
