Halloween // Costume Suggestions, SOS!

I usually have my costume figured out by now and since I don’t yet, there’s much internal panic so I need help.

I have medium length black hair with bangs. Previous costumes include: steampunk, Wednesday, Lydia, badass version of Red where I had a bloody wolf’s head in a basket and a machete, and a dark/goth/steampunk ringmaster.

My issues are, no one ever gets my costumes… pirate for steampunk, witch for Lydia, lion tamer for ringmaster, etc… and I need work appropriate (office setting, but pretty relaxed office).

Hopefully from my costume history, you can deduce that I go darker. I don’t like cutesy. I’m not really into slutty either, although I do want to go to NOLA to do Bettie Page once in my life before I get TOO old.

I’m not great at makeup, but I can do some basics. Nothing too in-depth like a full sugar skull/Día de los Muertos (although I wish).

I don’t necessarily need to have a character specifically with black hair, but maybe a general costume where hair colour doesn’t matter.

I like to piece my costumes together rather than buying an overpriced and terrible quality costume from a generic Halloween costume store. Like for Lydia last year, I got a black shirt dress, a wide brim black straw hat, and a cute mini camera I wore as a necklace with some fishnets and combat boots. I’ve worn that dress like five other times already as normal clothes, lol.

Please help! My best rough idea so far was a punk version of Velma, but my partner kinda said that it was stupid and yet again, no one is going to get it. Which is fine bc I wasn’t sold on that idea anyway.
