Halloween // American icons theme

Not sure if allowed as not strictly halloween but I'm attending a party with the them of American Icons and am lost for ideas! I'd really like to do something funny or a bit out of the box. Preferably something that won't cost a fortune to put together! I'm not American so there might be ideas that go over my head so I apologise in advance!
