Halloween // Disable shining app mask gesture sensing?

Does anyone know how to disable the proximity sensor on the shining app mask? There is an option in the app to turn off gesture sensing, however the "feature" is hard coded into the mask. Therefore if something blocks the sensor (like part of a costume), it switches gesture switching on and off (and on and off) despite the app setting. This wouldn't be a problem except every 3 second it displays a thumbs up or an x and disrupts the image on screen.

The mask has code emled.ltd, face mask screen m3 v1.21, 20230318. I could not find a company website to ask them. The sensor appears to have a label u4 on the front side, and c28, r23, r19, r21, c29 on the back.
