I must have been 6 or 7. School was having a halloween party/competition. Can't exactly remember the winner as it's been almost 20 years. But I will never forget the worst costume I saw. Let's call him Peter. Peter was fairly well-to-do: his father owned a successful company so always had the latest things, always got his way, wasn't too much of an asshole. He minded his business and I minded mine.
When I tell you this lad came to school dressed as a homeless person... Dirty ratty clothes, messy unwashed wig, food scraps in foil, cardboard sign, holey socks no shoes. Everyone thought it was the best joke in the world.
Even at that age, I thought "what the hell is wrong with this kid?"
A year later I remembered it and thought "what the hell is wrong with this kid's parents?"
Very well thought out from a design perspective but from a moral perspective, needed more time in the oven.
Few years later I dressed as a Japanese ninja and didn't see an issue with that, I guess.
