Halloween // Advice on Avril Lavigne "Girlfriend" Costume

I'm looking to dress as Avril Lavigne from her Girlfriend video for a Halloween party this year.

I cannot wear heels for the life of me, so I'm switching the heels to my black hightop converse. I've got the white t-shirt. My problem is I cannot seem to find a blue plaid mini-skirt for the life of me. And after watching the video a couple more times, I'm beginning to think that she is wearing booty shorts and not a mini skirt. So I don't know what to do! Also, I cannot find the knee length socks anywhere...and I don't think I want to wear them because A. they'll look stupid with the high tops, and B. this party gets packed and gets hot, so the less clothes I'm wearing the better. I don't want to die of heatstroke! haha

Also, what jewelry will I need and how easy is it to do the temporary pink streaks? I'm also not a full blonde (natural dirty blonde getting darker in the winter), so I'm not sure the pink would even show up well.

Has anyone done this costume before? Or do you have any advice on how I can switch things up to be more comfortable but still look as close to the video version as possible? Any help would be great!
