Halloween // Be honest, how much for a costume is too much?

I’m hosting a party for Halloween and for all the boys of my costume, it adds up to £40. I’m not sure if this is too much since most of my friends costumes are similar amounts but my parents think it’s a bit much. The dress and everything but the wings could be worn at other times but I’m really not sure.
