Halloween // Halloween Adult Party Theme Ideas

Hello! This past October I threw a Nightmare before Christmas themed party (had tons of traditional Halloween decorations with rainbow Christmas lights and trees - looked like a holiday explosion). I want to do something really elaborate this year, as I’ll be in a new city and just establishing new relationships. For context, this will be a party for people in their mid-late 20s. I like the idea of a set theme where people wear costumes that match it.

My first thought was maybe a “cult classic” themed party, taking inspiration from An American Werewolf in London, but I’m not sure everyone at the party would get it. Maybe just universal monsters?

Also, not for me, but a ghostbusters theme would be fun. Looking for more of a macabre theme.
