Halloween // Suitable age for trick or treating?

I LOVE Halloween. Always dress up even if I’m not going anywhere, horror movies every day, horror themed dinner and of course pumpkins! I now have a two year old (will be 2 and 8 months this Halloween) and want to get him involved. What are peoples thoughts on an age to start trick or treating? We wouldn’t go out too late, only go to a handful of houses and I would sort through his treats for age appropriate ones. I’m not asking on parenting groups because I will just get abuse about trick or treating in general and how I’m a terrible mother for subjecting my child 🙄
