Hi all,
We live in Australia and this will be my first Halloween where I actually own my home and am not in an apartment building. The selection of decorations are limited and/or very pricey here so was hoping to get some DIY projects going over the next few months to prepare for the spooky season. I'm looking for some advice / ideas / cheap / inspiration on the best home outdoor decorations. I'm going to put a bunch of questions and ideas below. Any advice is welcome!
I've got 2 ideas in my head of what I want, but everything else is open:
1) We've got a tree out front which I'd love to put a massive spider + web on. So anything related to the materials / build for this would be very helpful.
And 2) the other thing that looks do-able to me based on my level of handy-ness is this PVC framed cauldron stirring witch: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lbwsIYIkPdI Keen to hear if anyone has done this themselves. Is the wiper blade motor the best option for the stirring motion? Is it worth investing in a fog machine to try to rig something to get smoke coming out of the cauldron?
I can't help but think in this day and age there should be lots of ideas on how to incorporate some more new age tech from simple things such as LEDs or bluetooth speakers to more complex Raspberry Pi, 3D printing, etc. Also wondering if anyone has experience with AliExpress (or other cheap alternatives) items that would be worth ordering now to use as part of the projects in this same tech vein?
I am a little weary that by the time I get too far into this, I'll probably end up sinking as much money into doing it DIY than I would if I bought off the shelf. If you have any ideas / tips / on how to keep costs under control, or really just any advice it would be much appreciated.
