Halloween // Need spooky destinations to travel to in the US!

Hello! My partner and I had the idea for our next vacation (in a year or two) of decent size to be Halloween oriented (and preferably be in October)! We don't have a huge budget for these things but we figured these kinds of places wouldn't be requiring a lot of money to see/participate in, such as the beach or something like that. We came up with some obvious ones, like Point Pleasant and Salem (we live in TN) but we were coming up short on other ideas. I figured yall could give us some! Have any of you had any trips that revolved around spooky locations that you enjoyed? We appreciate your input!
