So, I'm wanting to make 2 XL Beetlejuice sandworm props for my yard for Halloween. My neighborhood really goes at it on the decorations and we need to represent. I am a prop maker and Production Designer for film, so I know this is something I can do. My only issue is that I'm trying to make it in a way that can be deconstructed for storage. I don't exactly have the storage space in my 2 bedroom as I do in my prop house.
I want each worm to be 3 pieces, the head, the middle, and the tail. But they need to be able to be taken apart in a way that doesn't take up much space and can hopefully be tied together or boxed up. I originally thought wood would be a good medium but I don't exactly know how to store it. Does anyone have any advice for a way this could be built that can be taken apart and assembled each year? Or a good medium that I could work with other than wood that might be easier to deconstruct?
TLDR; Trying to build 2 huge Sandworms for my yard. Any pointers for a large prop build that can be constructed & deconstructed every Halloween?
