Halloween // LED Atomizer vs Fog Machine for witch's cauldron?

I'm planning to build a witch's cauldron this year. I have looked at several builds, some using an atomizer for the fog / lighting effect and others using a fog machine with a separate light.

I like the idea of the atomizer as it's cheaper and has the lights built in but I am wondering about the amount of fog / mist that it produces and how visible it will be.

Has anyone used an atomizer for a fog effect? How visible is it? The fog machine produces plenty of fog but I have read that there may be issues with heat? Anyone here tried either of these?
