Halloween // Halloween Villages and Candy

I've got a question for anyone who chooses to decorate using Halloween village pieces from Department 56, Lemax, etc.

I'd like to integrate some type of a candy dish into my display. It could hold M&Ms, or candy corn/pumpkins, or even potentially wrapped candy. My idea for it would be for it to appear as a giant cauldron or soup pot that is at the center of a town square surrounded by characters.

Has anyone done anything like this? Any suggestions on a good vessel and or piece to use for this? Trying to make it look like part of the scene. I was thinking about one of those salsa bowls with feet that you sometimes see in Mexican restaurants.
