Halloween // Costume sizing?

Hello everyone, quick question about costumes. My son is 5yrs old. He wears a size 6. Small costume size are 4-6. Medium sizes are 8-10. Should I try the small size and hope he's not too big for it or grows out of it fast? Or buy a medium that will most likely be too big for him but at least he'll have room to move and grow?
