Halloween // New Orleans or Salem around Halloween?

A band is going on tour that my wife and I want to see (Gojira). We're using the show as an excuse to travel and explore a city.

They are playing in New Orleans in mid October (10/17) and they are playing in Portland, ME at the end of October (10/27).

Halloween is our favorite holiday and we'd love to see how other cities celebrate it. The show in Portland would be nice because we could drive there and go to Boston/Salem too. That's something we've always wanted to see around Halloween. We've never been there at all.

However, I've never been to New Orleans either and there is something about southern noir and legends that really intrigues me. I feel like it would be a really unique Halloween experience. But we'd be there a couple of weeks shy of Halloween.

Other options are:

  • Asheville, NC
  • Salt Lake City, UT.
  • Nashville, TN.

I'd love to hear about Halloween in these towns and which one you'd recommend we check out.
