Halloween // black hair spray?

hi! I have 24 inch dark brown hair that id like to tint down to a jet black if possible. But after spending years coming back from dyeing my hair black I am not wanting to dye it for a costume. Are there hair sprays that aren’t so cheap and gross feeling? I was thinking of root cover-up maybe but thought I’d consult the pros haha
