Halloween 2017: Preserving a Jack-o-Lantern

My son just made his first Jack-o-Lantern and I’d like to be able to preserve it. Does anyone know how I can go about doing so? Is it possible to preserve one forever? Has anyone had any luck putting it in the oven to dehydrate it?
