Halloween // advice on a yard haunt

So, for years i've wanted to decorate my yard for Halloween. however i have a privacy fence and gate and just a few feet of grass before the road. (neither of which are very spooky) and i'm not sure how to go about decorating it. I don't have any trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood (at least not yet) so i'm not concerned with the interior yard, although i have a long driveway that i think would be a nice little walk down eventually, but for now i wanna just focus on the fence area. I want the eerie and scary look and not hokey.
