Halloween // How to create a haunted house character?

Hi all! So I might finally get to be a scare actor in a haunted house this year and I was thinking of creating my own character for it. I know some of the basics like developing a backstory, give the character a reason for their actions, etc. and I'm normally pretty good at coming up with original characters for stories and art but since I'll be the one acting as said character (and needing it to fit into a haunted house atmosphere) I've been having trouble coming up with anything! I've tried playing to things I'm good at (meowing, bestial noises) but I just can't seem to think up a good character.

For those that have their own haunted house personas - how did you go about coming up with them? Did you use anything for inspiration? What are some characters you've been/seen? What sort of characters would work well (in general) or in a haunted trail or demented dream world sort of area?
