Halloween // Scariest Experience in the Northeast US

I moved to the Northeast last summer, and spent a few days around Halloween in Sleepy Hollow, NY. It was a great experience, but I'd like to top that this year by doing something scary. No kids, so I don't necessarily need anything too family friendly. Assuming things are relatively normal around that time with the virus and all, I've considered checking out Salem, MA.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an ultimate freaky experience around Halloween anywhere in the Northeast? I enjoy haunted houses and hayrides, but I'm sure there's other types of experiences that I'm not even aware of. I've never done a ghost tour, so I'd be open to that.
