I believe they were window clings, though they could have been cardboard cut-outs. I remember them being put on the window in school. I seem to recall being told they were from Dollar Tree, though it could have been another dollar store. It would make sense, since these had that gruesome and gritty quality that makes some dollar store Halloween items so much freakier than other store's. These were no cutsie-smiley type decor.
I remember three of them that probably came together in one package:
The Grim Reaper standing in a cluster of tombstones. I think he had a screaming face, and was a skeleton as usual but covered in a thin layer of rotting flesh falling off his bones. He might have had a lantern and almost certainly his scythe.
A mummy with his internal organs exposed and being gnawed on by rats. There was a graveyard in the distance behind him, surrounded by a fence and gate.
And lastly, an alien having just escaped the confines of a lab. I'm pretty sure there was broken glass from one of those tubes they're always keeping aliens in and lab equipment in the background. This was the least memorable one for me, but I'm positive he was a really ugly son-of-a-bitch.
I'm sure I saw these in 2005. I've torn the internet apart, and I almost feel like I've seen every decoration in history except for these ones. I've found plenty of others from childhood and dollar store trips. I even wrote Dollar Tree on Facebook for the slim chance the employee on the other side would be able to access some records of whatever they sold back then, but had no reply. These things were just that cool.
So, what do you guys know, if anything?
